Hi, I’m Alan Savvides, otherwise (and affectionately) known as Chef Saval!
Food has always been such a huge part of my life: my earliest memories are of wandering around my Dad’s Greek restaurant, watching the chefs at work, quizzing them, pestering them, getting under their feet! I was utterly captivated, not only by the flavours they created, but by the colours, the textures, the aromas, and the sounds of that kitchen – a sensory adventure that beckoned me. Even now, when I close my eyes, I can be back there in an instant!
Long summer holidays spent with my family in the Mediterranean focused my tastes and honed my palate. Watching uncles, aunts and grandparents preparing hearty, nutritious food using traditional cooking methods formed the basis for my style and skill set.
Many years spent working in banqueting and professional kitchens afforded me the opportunity to combine the old with the new, the traditional with the modern. These are the beautiful and valuable skills that I want to pass on to you.
To now be able to combine my love of food with my love of people and my love for teaching is a bit of a dream come true! So here I am, Chef Saval, eager for you to join me on my gastronomic journey!
